Artist’s Statement
My work balances mythical fantasy with everyday life, drawing inspiration from Japanese and Asian animations and comics that captivated me during my younger years. Initially, my art reflected the high-fantasy style prevalent in these mediums, featuring characters drawn with simple lines and minimal backgrounds. However, as I matured through the COVID-19 lockdown, the fantasies in my mind shifted to that of the real world and its inhabitants outside the locked door. This change was reflected in my art, as it took a turn toward portraying real-life models and scenarios. I overcame my hesitations to explore beyond the realm of Japanese influence and began documenting the world around me, utilizing the creative freedom offered by digital means.
